this is about me......my actions, my thoughts, my observations. any similiarities to any other people, living or dead, is proof that they are ripping off me and my life. and i'm sueing. oh yes, i am. for a full concept of me, check out my site and the forum i admin, both linked at the right. and on the left, you can see your left speaker.

some strange note from earlier in the week....i got in trouble, more or less, cuz i sort of mentioned to my mom how i felt about school cuz she was pestering me to answer. that being that its a waste and meaningless and such and that i'm not accomplishing anything now. the irony of this, or rather, the fitting proof, ofo this is that all of an hour earlier i'd taken a test that said i was nihlistic, and believe in nothing.

saw sin city last night with a group....large amount of people i don't know, but the movie was good. its an adaptation of a graphic novel, and they really went to some long lengths to try to recreate the look of something done in ink, and as predominantly black and white with some added colour. i was really impressed and so in that regard, it was cinematically very well done.
the dialogue had a really interesting attitude to it to, and some of the lines were just...awesome. plus some of the scenes just.......well, i'll just say that it was a movie i found very easy to get into.
the fact that there was a great deal of partially naked or scantily clad women plays no role in why this movie was awesome, but i will recommend this to any and all. check it out.

after the movie, went to saugus cafe with chris, his sister, and jeremy. good dialogue for a while before i had to get home....and then things went downhill so fast. i was home for just a little while before i started feeling really sick. side effect of this was that i really didn't feel like sleeping. odd restlessness about me....net result was that i went to sleep at 5:30 after it had started getting light out. bad move on my part.
woke up this morning and firstly, the star wars line was out cuz i was sick, ended up having to cancel on the observing at mt wilson as well, since i didn't think i'd fare well up a windy road in the middle of the night where its cold and i was sick. though they might've been canceled on account of cloud cover...don't know yet.

tomorrow though i plan to head down to the line for a bit and start logging hours, so that ought to be fun. bryan's been down there since yesterday and they've now got net up and stuff. i'll have to get lots of hours logged between now and when episode 3 releases. i want to be as close to the front as possible.

i still need a way to develop better.....no make that just develop peopel skills. as at present my skills consist of taking a situation and screwing it up. i mean, i do that well, but ideally i'd like to handle these things better.

Well, heres the book review mentioned below:

  • Silent Bob Speaks The collected works of Kevin Smith (325 pages)This book is a collection of things Kevin Smith has written in a great number of places, magazines, online, etc. His writing is just hilarious, and he's got a great sense of humour. More than that, though, some of these really made good points. The part that had most meaning for me, though, was an article called "Defending the Faith," which is about Star Wars fans and what its like now with the prequels. Now what was so impressive about this was that I've had mixed feelings toward the new movies in that they have flaws. However, what Kevin Smith said about this really struck home with me. He presents some angles about it that I'd never really seen before, as well as I think very aptly comparing it to a car crash...you know whats gonna happen in the end....so you just watch things fall apart. I guess one could say that it very well strengthened my OWN faith in the prequels, and for that I thank him. Anyone that has liked ANYTHING he's read should really check this out, its great. PLus its unintentionally funny or ironic or something how much he praises Jennifer Lopez's acting and all when she was cut down to just 10 minutes in the movie.
alright, late update cuz the last week has been busy

last saturday i drove down to pick up tickets for vulgarthon at jay and silent bob's secret stash in westwood. this is always bad cuz this is just the sort of place im gonna spend lots of money from. i just had to pick them up, but i ended up buying clerks 10th anniversary and silent bob speaks, kevin smith's book which will be discussed more in post two. 60 bucks gone cuz i have no impulse control.
that night, went with bryan down to santa monica for an RotS line thing where they filmed interviews with us, plus i got to meet with some of the other people. i'm thoroughly coninced this will rock. line starts tomorrow!

monday was vulgarthon and was absolutly awesome.
got there and jason mewes and kevin smith were putting wristbands on everyone coming in, so that was a cool start.
first movie up was "Big Helium Dog" which had Kevin in it as a cameo, and...well, this was a weird movie. there was a lot of comic narration in there, so that was interesting, but its like....it looks at the filming of the 'movie' plus the movie itself in some wierd mix. it was really funny, but that was sort of it. as one of the questions in the q & a said "thanks for not having a plot" so that sorta sets up the level of it all. still though, i enjoyed it.
second up was jeff anderson's (randal of clerks) film "now you know". basicly, its about a mix of relationships and comedy....like, comedy going on outside of the romantic stuff....basicly it'd appeal to anyone. it was really good and enjoyable and i'll have to track it out in the future. one of those bittersweet things though, almost. but such is how it goes with me and movies. recommend it to all. between this and the q & a, this has also reaffirmed why jeff anderson just seems so cool. he's really quite a lot like randal.
then they showed a trailer for evening with kevin smith 2, and that rocked. looks like london and...some other country i forgot. but anyway it was hilarious and will definitly be bought asap.
after lunch we watched chasing amy....which was of course nothing new, then it was the Q&A for chasing amy 10th anniversary DVD. i'm still bitter that i didn't get to ask a question cuz things were disorganised and a whole lot of people asked these horrid questions. you know..."how do you feel" over and over again. the whole cast was there though, so that was really awesome. as an interesting side note, last question was a guy proposing to his girlfriend, which was darn gutsy.
then was the full version of jerseygirl at 2 hours 25 minutes. good lord lopez lived wayyyy too long. an extra half hour. though the one thing that was good about this version was the sweeny todd prominance that shows up later makes a whole lot of sense with the early stuff. i think i was the only person in the room that was actually hungry during the parts about meat pies getting made out of murder victims. but oh well.
finally was "Oh what a lovely tea party", a documentary that was about jay and silent bob strike back. left halfway through to get home though as this was somewhere after midnight. we were running...oh....hour and a half behind.

overall comments though, it is just so awesome how many times star wars got referenced during q &a's. pics to come later.

other big thing of the week was laying out the elementary school newspaper that i work with. pushed up to 8 pages this time, i started it late wednesday night and finished up around 5 on thursday. should've happened faster, but its still getting tricky to fit 4 articles on one page in a visually appealing fashion. so much easier to do 2 or 3 per page. important thing though is its done. and since it gets printed at the signal, apparently there are good comments about how well done it is. so go me. (and yes, they know that its not being laid out by elementary school students)

final thing to add in here is that i've now created a little quiz thing for me, located here:
http://lowbacca1977.friendtest.com See how you do! It'll be up prob till next weekend.
