"You've seen Star Wars how many times?!"

Thats right, the key question to a Star Wars fan is how many times you've seen the movies....I have no clue with most of them, but I do intend to keep it fully documented as to how many times I watch Episode III, and even with who, so here goes:

So, worth covering Saturday now...
Went down to disneyland to show support for the idea of having star wars weekends, like they do at disneyworld. there was a big group pic set up by the organisers which can be seen at DisneylandStarWars.com. Over 100 people were there, but unfortunitly Chris and Ti, and Scott were the only ones from the line to show up, that I saw. Also recognised one guy thats an imperial officer from the 501st that was involved in the death march for Episode III, so that was cool as well. I give them big props for the added photoshopping to get rid of the extra passers by that were in that picture beforehand.
Went on Star Tours and Thunder Mountain with Chris and Ti, then met up with Matt and Val and went over to DCA with them....went on Grizzly, which I will always regret now...plus Buzz Lightyear and Haunted Mansion. So on the whole, a fair bit of riding considering I didn't get there till after 3. Traffic was very not cool. Anyway, then called Jackie and went and had dinner with her at Denny's, then finally left down there like 12:30. My accomplishment for the day? 25 packs of sugar. Booyah.

In theory, the concept of advertising is to get people to like your product so much that they want to buy it, thereby increasing sales. Which is why this just doesn't make sense. As the article says:
Unwanted software slithered into Patti McMann's home computer over the Internet and unleashed an annoying barrage of pop-up ads that sometimes flashed on her screen faster than she could close them.
Annoying, for sure. But the last straw came a year ago when the pop-ups began plugging such household names as J.C. Penney Co. and Capital One Financial Corp., companies McMann expected to know better.

In my view, pop-up ads are one of those things taht will not raise interest in a product people already are probably familiar with, and you're just going to get people annoyed with you. Further, the justification of using spyware is the equivalent of saying taht its justified to wiretap so you know what customers are talking about to better help them. If you FORCE ads like this, you're not going to win, especially when you do something that is very near to a virus and is a common tactic you share with porn sites. Ok, with that last bit....you might win over a few people.

The World Trade Center memorial is becoming, big surprise, a political fiasco. So basicly, the musuem that is put there is being called the International Freedom Center museum, and the plans of the museum to be about things like segregation and the Holocaust is worrying the families of people that died in 9/11 that view this all as becoming some anti-American thing. Outright, I think that the museum is a bad idea.
Now, first of all, I don't think there should be ANY musuem at ground zero. The best way to counter an attempt to destroy the economical force of New York would be to rebuild the area and have it stay a center for commerce. I'm not saying forget 9/11, you can certainly incorporate a memorial there, of course. But its not the right spot to put a musuem.
Second of all, if you WERE to put a museum there, it should be STRICTLY about 9/11. Not that the otehr things aren't important, but theres a place and time for all things. When you start to go down a path that leads to the philosophy that 9/11 was justified, that directly attacks any nearby memorial, and its the equivalent of putting a museum at a concentration camp about the good things that the Nazi regime did. You seriously can't justify a terrorist attack that kills thousands anymore than you can justify the holocaust. The scales are different, the acts are just as inexcusible.

And finally, public tv and radio is getting threatened with debate over political biases. The basic question being if the gov't should be supporting media that seems to have a bias. Now, considering there is a lot of good coming out of PBS, and it seems to, imo, stay out of political matters for the most part, I think cutting its funding its a big mistake. NPR...well, thats a lot more political, so they're in a bit more hot water. Of course, if there is a bias, I expect that the Democrats will of course join the Republicans criticising this because as we all know, the Democrats are worried any time the government might be in any way endorsing a viewpoint. For example, that the gov't can no longer allow the boy scouts onto military bases because of christian values that the scouts have, and the BSA view toward homosexuality. So logically, the Dems should be strong critics of any bias that PBS and NPR would have that is being supported by gov't funds. I mean, it would be entirly unlike them to be hypocritcal.

well, linging up is far more addicting than i'd thought. Batman Begins was a movie that had a trailer that did not interest me in any way. Not being that much of a batman fan in general was probably an element... but still, in no way seemed worth seeing.
however, i still lined up for 24 hours for the movie outside the chinese because, well, why not. the line had one big problem. well, two. number one, too few people showed up late, and number two, we were next to michael jackson's star. i hate him with an unrivaled hatred now just because i had to put up with his 'fans' that are all crazy.
in no way related to crazy is the fact that for this all I was up for 43 hours straight, since i watched over the line through the night and all, plus drove Cela home after the movie. Long time with no sleep.

anyway, so i've now seen a movie at the chinese, and really, it wasn't the awe inspiring experience that people acted like it was. its not my favourite interior of a theatre, that'd probably be the el cap now. but what did get me was when i'd left for the bathroom during the movie and then came back. being at the very back of that theatre looking at a giant screen with somewhere over 1000 people in between me and it was an amazing sight to see. Between that, and Rik's comments about how you've got to think about the history and how many celebs have been in that theatre, thats what, to me, added the magic. Not the look of the place. I think, for that moment of awe to happen, I should've had someone save me a seat and gone in once it was full. That'd have done it.

A blog begins anew -
ok, so a lot has happened since I last posted here. I know that I've gone through a lot of changes though and that walls I had have come down. Like about bacon on sandwiches.

I waited for 513 hours of Episode 3, and it was awesome. I'll post more after having seen it two more times tomorrow. Or well, later today, technically. I'll also discuss things from the line a bit probably. I think the BBC blog is down now.

I feel in many ways very different from who I was in, say, March. Not that I've changed myself, per se, just that how I interat with people has. I've met a ton of great people and its really been taking my first step into a larger world. So this'll also mean that now rather than weekly whining, I'll have, stuff to talk about. So that'll be good. And of course, as i'll be taking pictures of my sw stuff over next week, those pics'll get uploaded then shown here. cuz that rocks.

anyway..blog on!
